Washington: The U.S. presidential election campaign has reached its peak, taking a dramatic turn as a significant survey reveals that if the election were held today, Kamala Harris is more likely to win. According to media reports, there was a general belief that Republican candidate Donald Trump would defeat his Democratic rival. However, a joint survey by NPR, PBS, and Marist shows that the Democratic presidential candidate currently holds 51% popularity, while Donald Trump stands at 48%. When Kamala Harris took over as the Democratic candidate after Biden’s withdrawal, her popularity was 4 points lower than the current 51%.

Trump has a 6-point lead on immigration, yet Kamala Harris’s position is 15 points better than Biden's in this area. Among female voters, Kamala leads Trump by 13 points, though she trails by 9 points among male voters. Kamala Harris's popularity among Black voters has surged, jumping from 23 points to 54 points ahead of Trump. Additionally, Kamala Harris has gained a 9-point advantage over Trump among independent voters. Most notably, her overall popularity has risen from 40% to 46%, surpassing not just Biden but also Barack Obama's popularity at similar stages in their campaigns.
